Our wonderful midwife hosts these great get togethers where women have a chance to share their birth stories… One such meeting happened today.  It was there when I realized I hadn’t updated our website of the new arrival!  My apologies!
We are blessed to announce the arrival of Theodore Keanu Russell-Wilk!

Born on April 14th, 2016 at 6:38 am, weighing 7lb 2oz and 20 inches long.

His name meaning Beloved gift, of the cold, red-wolf, Theodore was born into loving arms at home, in our Skoolie.

His road to earth was short, only lasting about 8 hours.  Eight shaky, occasionally nauseating yet wonderful hours. 

We had a midwife and her assistant attend.  Kelsey spent some of her labor in their non-traditional soaking tub.  It was incredibly soothing.

Kelsey’s mother came to the birth, totaling 5 adults in our wolf bus.

Theodore came into this world pink and healthy, a week before our estimation…although his grandmother asked Kelsey to have him that early 😉

Having Theodore in a school bus was an incredible experience… Not for the setting but only for the circumstances.  Our 200 sq ft school bus is similar to a small studio, and there was plenty of room to move around. 

The only drawback was only having one bathroom.  Because I spent a lot of time in the tub, I have to wonder how the others attending my birth were off put.

We sent our two dogs off to Kelsey’s aunts house… It would have been too crowded had they stayed.  They returned the next morning!

If we were to do it again, we would have made a crockpot beforehand and been sure to have some extra chairs to make the attendants more comfortable. 

Life with a newborn in a Bus is fairly simple.  We don’t have all the swings and baby gear, only a bassinet and a wipe warmer.  We take baths in our stock tank.  Theodore sleeps in our family bed nestled between mom an dad. We have recently begun cloth diapering, without a washing machine.  Theodore grows bigger every day, and we are so happy that he is a part of our life 💕💕💕
